While for relatively simple mud system for other kinds of drilling such as Horizontal Direction Drilling, CBM drilling; geothermal drilling; tunneling, piling which requires not as strictly drilling mud as oil and gas drilling, there is almost no need of decanter centrifuges. Treating capacity: 30cbm/h ( for water); 15-20cbm/h ( the actual capacity is pending on the drilling mud conditions and customer’s request on result)

Bowl size: 360mm in diameter and 1271mm in length, the ratio is 3.

Application:

the high speed fixed speed centrifuge GNLW363CG can be working at 3200rpm/2700rpm/2200rpm, which can separate very fine solids, like solids control mud weight cutting, drilling waste management, drilling cuttings management.

Mud agitator use for solids control

After the drilling mud filtered through whole set of solids control machineries, the treating mud is storage in reserve tank and pump back to the well for drilling bit lubrication.  However, the treated mud will effect by gravity and created setting solid on bottom of the tank and the mud parameters is off the balance.  To prevent this matter, consist agitated to the mud is need and mud agitator is serve for this continues mixing purpose. Mud Agitator chooses method is by the size of the mud tank to determine how big the motor will need for use.  The height of the tank also determines the mud agitator will need either one or two impeller.  It is simple, compact motor with impeller and motor from 3kw to 22kw and impeller size is from 650mm to 1100mm depends on the mud tank size, the torque created from motor created consists mixing cycle for great merit. Drilling Cuttings Drying Equipment with Frame Convenient Installation on Tank

Nowadays, the customers from the drilling industry for drilling cuttings drying management are looking for some equipment to treat their waste cuttings which is got from the drilling rig site. GN’s equipment especially for this project is given more attention.

In GN’s normal cuttings drying system, the cuttings dryer and decanter centrifuge is installed on a skid. The centrifuge would be located on a catching tank, while the verti G dryer would be designed to be supported by one set frames. Here the decanter centrifuge is very close to the top of the tank, there is no space between the bottom of the centrifuge and the catching which results to difficulty to observe the solids discharge and the liquid effluence flow down to the catching tank. It is really inconvenient for operation and maintenance.

On considering making GN’s equipment easy for operation and all processing would be visual, GN has designed the cuttings drying equipment with a frame support beneath itself. Just like the Hi G dryer shaker which is a main cuttings drying equipment with better performance for water base mud cuttings. The shaker base seat is designed like a hopper at which bottom there is a outlet making all the liquid could be collected and guided to a catching tank. This shaker could be installed both on the tank top or separated stand on the ground with some hose connecting with the outlet.

The centrifuge is also with 4 legs. By installing this centrifuge on the tank top, the operators have sufficient space to connect the solids and liquid discharge port by using the auger or the hose.

In GN’s latest cuttings drying system, the verti g cuttings dryer and centrifuge both can be supported by one set frame. The height of the frame is adjustable according the actual site conditions. At a high location, the effluence out from the cuttings dryer and centrifuge could flow down naturally without a feeding pump is involved.

Desilter for drilling mud

The method of operation of hydrocyclone is centrifugal force, which solids separate through force cause the separation from the mud.  It is the same method use like centrifuges.  It is the sample structure that does not have moving parts and installation and maintenance is low and easy to operate.  The device is mostly use in mineral, chemical, petrochemical, textile and metallurgical fields.

 

A desalted is the cyclone diameter that is 6” or less. It is use as in third level of drilling filtering equipment in drilling process.  The common use sizes are 4” cyclones to filter solid-phase particle size 15-44μm in the drilling fluid.  The numbers of hydrocycone usage is base on treating capacity that operator is needed. The polyurethane material is use for easy maintenances and longer usage life to achieve consist operation cost of drilling.

Like we mention before, the hydrocyclone is 4” that is common.  The steel frame is making to provide the support and pair it with shale shaker to calleddesilter. The frame is detachable for more use option as well for maintained purpose as well. The shale shaker on the bottom performs another step of filtering for project that requires more intense filtering of solids from the mud.

Small hydrocyclone called desilter is important steps to control the solids contain in the drilling mud.  It can remove solids from the drilling mud to keep the drilling mud clean as possible, the

15-44μm solids particles accounting for over 60﹪of solids quantity.  When drilling is in operation, the shale shaker removes large size of solids while hydrocyclone Desilter can remove much finer solids that ensure efficiency of solids control. It is well fit for drilling operation in much harder core and drilling speed is much slower that drilling particles are often small.

Decanter Centrifuge use in drilling

Decanter centrifuge use in solid separation for drilling fluid after desilter, which done by the 4 inch hydrocyclone  The drilling mud at this stage may contain solids between 2 to 5 micron and in some case, it contain the barite, the reusable additive.  Decanter centrifuge ‘s purpose is separate this fine solids and recover the barite to achieve purification of drilling mud so it can be sent it back to rig and use it for drilling many times over.

 

The basic concept of decanter centrifuge is use G-force rotate the bowl “spinning” to create the weight difference so the solids is separate from the mud.  During the high speed spinning in G-force, the solids move in one direction while the mud moves to opposite direction to achieve the separation and two exits below the decanter centrifuge will be one for exit of solid while the other one is for the mud that is done separation. The centrifuge generate centrifugal force amount to 400g~3000g acceleration, only need a short time accomplish the separation process

 

Such process is accomplish by feeding the drilling mud after the separation of desilter and feed the mud into the decanter centrifuge. Decanter centrifuge mainly use for recovering the barite and get rid of small solids in the mud for reduce the solids in the drilling mud.  This step to make sure the function of drilling mud back to near as new as possible, which the drilling rig bit need for continues drilling.

 

Drilling rig need this cleaning step is purposely maintains the cost of the drilling. The maintains of drilling cost is by product.  The main reason is if solids separation is not done properly, the density of small solids will raise and that will seriously affect the drilling bit which will cost raise temperature in the mud and cost damage of the drilling bit and many other types of machinery to over worked and lead to structure damage of the drill rig.
