Mud Transfer Pumps and Mud Agitators for Asia Clients

As the last working month before Chinese traditional New Year holiday, Jan. should be the business month among the year for GN Solids Control. All GN workshops are running in 2 or 3 shifts in order to dispatch as more orders as possible before the Chinese New Year holiday, and to give clients best and on time support on delivering.

Every day, different solids control and waste management equipment are dispatched from GN factories to China domestic and overseas clients. The equipment will be used at various job sites to reduce the waste, save clients’ cost and protect our environment.

Below are some of the solids control equipment delivered from GN factory:

1) Centrifugal mud pumps. Per clients’ request, GN upgraded all his centrifugal pump design to be interchangeable with international famous brand. The mounting dimension and all spare parts are all interchangeable. It helps the clients the source and stock spare parts easier. And they can replace GN pumps directly without changing his existing mud tanks or equipment layout.

2) Slurry vacuum pumps: Some Slurry vacuum pumps are delivered from GN factory. The pump is 100% driven by air. There are no electrical components. Even the control system is driven by air. And all values are air controlled valves imported from Europe. They can be used at hazardous areas. And it can transfer solids up to 17mm. It is an idea pump for long distance solids transfer.

3) Mud agitators for mud tank systems: The mud agitators are customized per client’s request for heavy mud. It is horizontal mud agitator equipped with International IECEx explosion proof motors and heavy duty helical bevel gearbox. The IECEx standard mud agitators will be used to replace the old mud agitators on client’s mud tank systems. The motor and gearbox are connected by high quality coupling, and mounted on a small skid. Clients can lay the skid mounted mud agitator on their mud tanks.

Solids Control Equipment for Russia Oil Company

2018 is a fruitful year for GN Solids Control. And of course, a busy year for all GN people. After a period of day and night continue working, another batch of solids control equipment was dispatched on time. All the solids control equipment was ordered for Russia Oil Company. The equipment will be used to replace their old equipment in their rig mud system.

Below equipment was dispatched for Russia Oil Company in this shipment. It is a full package solids control processing equipment for drilling fluids mud system:

1) Some shale shakers. It is customized color with some customized design. They will be used to replace the old U.S brand shale shakes at end users’ rig mud system.
2) Some mud cleaners with the same model shale shaker as above. The shale shaker and mud cleaner utilizes high quality replacement composite material screens made by GN Solids Control.
3) Russia clients prefer Centrifugal degasser, rather than vacuum degasser. Some centrifugal degassers are included in this shipment. For other market, clients prefer vacuum degasser.
4) Furthermore, some 14 inch high speed decanter centrifuges are shipped together for a full package solids control processing.

Rotors and scrapers for vertical cuttings dryer

Rotor assembly is the rotating part of vertical cuttings dryer. There are scrapers between the rotor and screens basket to help for solids removing. So the scrapers are wearing parts. Manufacturer will suggest to change the whole rotor assembly with a full set scrapers. Many customer cannot understand, why the rotors are not wearing parts, but have to change together with the scrapers?

The reason is that:

The scraper is with a curved surface. Although it is a precision casting, it has machining deviation. There are mounting holes on the scrapers after casting. The rotor is also a curved surface, and the rotor itself has no standard mounting holes for scrapers.
During assembly, put the scraper on the rotor to find the best place where the curved surface of rotor and scraper can touch well, and then drill holes on rotor for fixing. After 8 scrapers are fixed to the rotor, the whole unit will be machined and do dynamically balance. Because both precision casting and assembly have deviations. Therefore, the mounting hole positions on every rotor will be not the same. And the dynamic balance can only fit the original scrapers which delivered together from the factory. That’s why the scrapers and rotor must be replaced together.

If operators want to only replace the scrapers but use the old rotors, they will need to find a workshop with vertical lathe to machine the scrapers to ensure the equal gap between scrapers and basket. and make balancing for the whole unit.

The method of using flat washers to adjust the gap between screen and rotor may solve the problem of installation. But the gap between screen and rotor maybe not equal. Do balancing will be another challenging.

It is high speed rotating equipment. If the rotor assembly is not in balance. It will cause abnormal vibration, it may damage the machine, or even cause dangerous.

Vertical cuttings dryer for oil base mud cuttings treatment

GN Solids Control makes vertical cuttings dryer to treat oil base mud cuttings discharged from shale shaker. The fine soil discharged from decanter centrifuge cannot be treated by vertical cuttings dryer. As the screen opening of vertical cuttings dryer is 0.25mm, 0.35mm and 0.5mm. But decanter centrifuge cut points is 2 ~ 5 microns. It is used to remove very fine solids. The screen opening is vertical cuttings dryer is too big to the decanter centrifuge soil.

GN Solids Control can offer full package vertical cuttings dryer together with electrical control panel, telescopic skid and Cantilever crane system for screens changing.
1) GN Solids Control equips an adjustable Cantilever crane with 0.5T Hand chain hoist for vertical cuttings dryer screen changing.
2) The vertical cuttings dryer skid designed by GN Solids Control can be adjustable to lower down for transportation, and it is also it’s easily Rotatable. GN Solids Control design vertical cuttings dryer skid is heavy duty. It is to make it more reliable and easy for operation. It is complete with walkway, handrails, stairs and connections between the vertical cuttings dryer and flush pump.
3) GN Solids Control can also equip a small vibration motor system under the vertical cuttings dryer skid to help for the solids discharge. Mostly GN Solids Control does not equip the vibrator motor system. As the solids discharged from vertical cuttings dryer is with very lower liquid, it is very dry, like powders. It is optional function. GN Solids Control can offer the vibrator motor system in case clients want it.
After the vertical cuttings dryer, GN Solids Control can offer high speed decanter centrifuge with telescopic skid or catch tank, and feeding pump for the centrifuge.

Furthermore, GN Solids Control can offer screw conveyer system under the solids control shale shakers to collect drilling cuttings and transfer to vertical cuttings dryer for separation. GN Solids Control can also offer screw conveyor auger system to transfer the dry cuttings discharged from the package.

1500HP Drilling Rig Solids Control System for India

A full package of 1500HP oil drilling rig mud solids control system package will be ready for delivery this week. GN Solids Control assembly the whole system for final running test and inspection. After that, all processing equipment and guardrails will be removed from the system for packing, and delivery to sea port for sailing to customer from Indian.

The system does only content of 1 set of processing tank, but including following full line solids control equipment. The other suction tanks, mixing tanks, storage tanks will be built locally. It can save shipping cost and shorten the total delivery time.

The 1500hp mud system including all solids control equipment as below:
Firstly, there is a mud gas separation, model GNZYQ1000. The mud gas separate will be connected to client’s choke manifolds and to remove the gas for safety.

And then 3 sets linear motion shale shaker are equipped for the 1rst stage solids control processing. The shaker model is GNZS703F-HB, 3-panel shale shaker equipment with composite material shaker screens for longer lifetime, and with back type feeding box.

1 set of GNZCQ360B large vacuum degasser is equipped after the 3 shale shakers. It is used to kill the fine gas bubbles before enter into mud cleaner in order to protect the hydro cyclone separator.

After vacuum degasser, there is a set of GNZJ703F-2S12N mud cleaner. It is a 3-1 separator for the 2nd and the 3rd separation. The mud cleaner is combined of a same model 3-panelshale shaker, 2 ea desander cyclones and 12 ea desilter cyclones.

The desander and desilter cyclones will be fed by 2 ea 75hp centrifugal pumps.
Futher more, a 11kw trip pump is located in the system. A set of EX control system is with controls for all mentioned equipment.

Drilling fluids solids control system for mud control

The equipment and system used together with the drilling rig to clean and recycling drilling mud is caused as drilling fluids solids control equipment and solids control mud system. Its principle is liquid and solids separation.

During the drilling process, the dirty drilling fluid exits the wellbore through a flow line and be charging to the solids handling equipment for solids control. After removing the unqualified bigger size particles, the mud is cleaned and fed into the wellbore via the suction tank through high pressure mud pumps. The equipment is arranged in the right way to remove successively smaller particles during its processing.
A full function drilling fluids handling system will including below tank unit:

Drilling mud mixing and storage system

1) Firstly, there will be a trip tank section, it is an associated system for gauging pipe displacement during tripping operations. It is normally equipment with a small power trip pump, an mud agitator, and a small volume tank less than 10 cbm.

2) The shale shaker tank / separation tank section is the major part of the mud processing system. The tank(s) and associated relative equipment is used to remove useless solids and recovery useful drilling fluid from the handling process.

3) Discharge tank unit, the tank(s) or pit(s) and equipment located at the well site used to store and process drilling fluid and cuttings for disposal.

4) Reserve tank unit, the tank(s) or pit(s) and associated equipment used to isolate drilling fluid from the active system. The mud mixing system is normally equipment on/together with a reserve tank, and it is qualified to mixing to any of the clean mud tank compartment.

5) Suction tank unit, it is the tank(s) from which the high pressure mud pumps take suction, and any associated pumps or mixing equipment.

The popular solids control and handle equipment are as following:

1) Shale shaker is the most popular and widely used equipment for drilling fluids liquid and solids separation.

2) Mud cleaner, desander and desilter. They are the 2nd and the 3rd stage solids control equipment after shale shaker separation.

3) Decanter centrifuge is the 4th stage solids control equipment for barite recovery or fine solids separation to reduce the mud weight.

500GPM Mud Recycling and Dewatering Unit for Sinopec HDD rig

500GPM is the most popular size mud recycling system for HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) rigs, water well drilling rigs and CBM (coal bed methane) machines. Every year, GN Solids Control will provide around 10 sets complete mud recycling systems to SINOPEC non-oil drilling divisions for their piping projects. Most systems are equipped for 500GPM capacity for SINOPEC domestic and international projects.

This week, a new 500GPM mud recycling and water system have been ready for SINOPEC pipeline projects. It is a high standard HDD mud recycling system including bellow processing equipment:

1) The 1rst stage processing equipment is a linear motion shale shaker GNZS70F. It is a 3-panel shale shaker utilizing big size composite material screens for long lifetime, big non-blanked areas and better conductance. As a leading solids control equipment manufacturer, GN Solids Control is also a top manufacturer for high quality composite material screens for all GN shakers and for most of the popular shaker models from other brands. All GN screens are conforms to API RP 13C to ensure a precision separation.

2) Mud cleaner GNZJ703F-1S8N is used as the 2nd and 3rd separation equipment. The mud cleaner is a combination of under flow shale shaker, 1× 10 inch desander separator, and 8× 4 inch desilter separator. The desander and desilter cyclones are fed by centrifugal pump respectively.

Dewatering centrifuge

3) There is a high speed decanter centrifuge GNLW363C-VFD associated in the 2nd tank. The clean mud from desilter is transferred by a submersible slurry pump and feeding the high speed decanter centrifuge for dewatering.

It is a 2-tank mud recycling system. The shale shaker, mud cleaner and mud cleaner feeding pumps are associated on the No.1 tank as processing tank. Dewatering centrifuge and its feeding pump are located on the 2nd mud tank. Furthermore, there is a screw conveyor under the solids discharge port of dewatering centrifuge to transfer the soil from centrifuge to waste containers.

The whole system will be dispatched to SINOPEC pipeline division company very soon.

Dual voltage drill mud treatment equipment

Many customers are interested in dual voltage equipment, they prefer dual voltage mud agitator, dual voltage shale shaker, dual voltage decanter centrifuge, dual voltage sand pump, dual voltage slurry pump. And dual voltage motor starters. In this case, they can use the same equipment for different power system project in case they need it.

Mostly in China the solids Control and drilling waste management equipment are designed for single voltage power system. As the dual voltage motor is not popular in China. Few companies can make dual voltage motors. It is hardly to find the reliable suppliers. There are some European and U.S brand offers dual voltages motors, but price is much higher. Normally, it is 2 or 3 times higher than the normal Chinese brand single voltage motors. It will be more cost effective for clients to buy another set of motors as backup.

decanter centrifuge and shale shaker 

If clients really want the equipment suit for dual voltage and suits for both 50hz and 60hz power system, GN Solids Control will recommend them to buy equipment per 60hz power system. In case they use the 60hz motor in 50hz power system, like for both 460V/60HZ and 380V/50HZ. The equipment rotating speed will be lower from 60hz to 50hz. Theoretically the lifetime of the 60hz motor running at 50hz will a little bit shorten the lifetime. But it will not shorten much. Compared with the big price margin on dual voltage motors, it is much more cost effective.

But the 50hz motor equipment is forbidden to use for 60hz system to avoid over speed and damage the equipment, or to cause dangerous.

For motor starter (electrical control panel), it is not problem to make it for dual voltage, like to suit for both 460V/60HZ and 380V/50HZ . The control panel will suit for both 50hz / 60hz. So you can use the agitator for 380V/50HZ. There will be a transformer on the control panel. And there will be a switch on the panel. Operators will shift the control between 50hz and 60hz by moving the switches.
