GNZS752E shale shaker will be used for diamond drilling mud system with 200 GPM mud flow capacity max by 40 mesh size shaker screen , the shaker screen mud flow capacity will be reduce when shaker screen get finer and finer . It is 2 decks shaker screen with 1.35 square meters screen area. The shaker deck angel + 2 degree for help solids drying, 7.1G force help for solids discharge and drying with 2 x 0.75 KW motors.

GNLW223 mini decanter centrifuge designed for diamond drilling for 40 GPM mud flow capacity with 220 mm bowl diameter and 660 mm bowl length. The impeller of screw coated with tungsten carbide material for protection. The centrifuge bowl rotating speed reaches to 4000 RPM to separate solids 2 – 5 microns by centrifugal force.

3 m long mud tank will hold one set GNZS752E mini shale shaker and one set GNLW223 mini decanter centrifuge to reach a separation point 2 – 5 microns and small hopper and mixing pump installed for new mud mixing. The 3 m long tank is movable by fork lift which is convenient to moving and handrail on top for protection.

Where to install the shale shaker in oil field

The first -time set-up of the shale shaker

When first set-up the shale shaker, it needs keep put the shaker on a leveled surface.
The shock-resist rubber materialsneed be installed between the box and bracket.
Remove the shipping brace like bolt and lug, because the base and screen box are connected by springs, so when ship, the above part of the equipment is secured by the shipping brace.
Remove all the shipping braces before operate the shale shaker.
The motor cables connected the vibration motors on the shale shaker always damaged during severe vibration.Cable coversare provide and need to install with cables when connect control panel and the motors
When stop using the shale shaker, the shale shaker screen should always be washed by clean water.  It also needs to use diesel fuel to clean the screen first, and then water when treating oil-base fluid.

The installation of shale shaker screen

Install the wedge blocks at the two sides at the same time.

Make sure the wedge blocks are firmly installed before turn on the shale shaker.
Do the test-run after the installation of shaker screen to ensure installation is done corrected .   If there is any unusual noise of poor contact, stop immediately and re-check the installation of shaker screen.

There are normally or in all 3 kinds of drilling mud used in the oil and gas drilling industry. Water based mud, oil based mud and also SBM. These 3 kinds of mud cover all the usages of drilling mud in all over the world. But no matter it is water based mud or oil based mud, after being used, they are not allowed to be disposed directly to anywhere, because no matter what material or chemicals added into the mud, they will cause damage to the environment.

In previous years, when people were not clear about the severe contaminate on the environment or when people cared more about money than the environment, some drilling mud was discharged directly to the soil, and since then, such soils became barren. In recent years, all the countries and regions are issuing laws and registrations for protecting the environment and forbid the oil companies, drilling companies or service companies to dispose the used drilling mud improperly.

So the demand of the solids control and drilling waste management system is becoming more and more serious thing. How to manage the drilling waste or the drilling cuttings from the drilling mud? Where will the drilling mud go after being used? There are different answers to this question based on the drilling mud is a water based mud or oil based mud, mostly cases are like that, the water based mud is disposed after treated by the waste management system while the oil based mud will be transported to other projects for re-use. Why? It needs a calculation and a compare of the cost for transportation and the cost of mud itself. Water itself is of less cost and if the transportation cost is high, it is better to dispose the mud after being treated. But oil is expensive, so it is more economic to re-use it.

The decanter centrifuge work on a principle of heavy solids settling , with the “ G “ force number by centrifugal force , the solids particle will be settling down and discharge and fluids content over flow to the other end to reach fine solids separation application . You can look at the centrifuge bowl to understand the principle of decanter centrifuge. The solids in the drilling mud will settle to the bottom of centrifuge bowl by centrifugal force, if you want to speed the settling process, you can reduce the height of the centrifuge bowl, which means, you need make centrifuge bowl diameter smaller to reduce solids settling time. If you want to keep the centrifuge bowl diameter, you can increase the centrifuge length to allow solids settling longer time.

In the drilling mud, different size and density solids will get different settling speed because centrifuge principle separation by centrifugal force. The centrifuge can supply a kind of method to increase the settling force for suspended solids in drilling mud. The decanter centrifuge can separate solids particles 2 – 10 microns size range.

The decanter centrifuge is horizontal steel bowl with rotating speed from 1600 RPM to 4000 RPM depending on bowl diameter and design. The dual centrifuge system , the first centrifuge unit will be using for separate barite particles and it will be return to the drilling mud , the second set high speed decanter centrifuge will be using to separate fine solids than barite to lower drilling mud density .

After the drilling mud filtered through whole set of solids control machineries, the treating mud is storage in reserve tank and pump back to the well for drilling bit lubrication.  However, the treated mud will effect by gravity and created setting solid on bottom of the tank and the mud parameters is off the balance.  To prevent this matter, consist agitated to the mud is need and mud agitator is serve for this continues mixing purpose. Mud Agitator chooses method is by the size of the mud tank to determine how big the motor will need for use.  The height of the tank also determines the mud agitator will need either one or two impeller.  It is simple, compact motor with impeller and motor from 3kw to 22kw and impeller size is from 650mm to 1100mm depends on the mud tank size, the torque created from motor created consists mixing cycle for great merit. To keep both the mud mixing evenly and the suspension of solids, the mud agitator is used to agitate the mud continuity and reliably. This agitator agitates the mud to make debris; silt and sand pass the solids control system without being sinking toward the tank bottom. Due to the simplex turbine decelerator, this product is featured by small size, light weight, evened transmission, minimum noise, high efficiency of transmission and strong mixing power. The electric motor use in agitator is explosion by requirement of the drilling field and reducer input shaft are connected through elastic shaft coupling instead of belt transmission, and therefore rotation speed of the wave wheel is constant, the maxing intensity is large and the range is wide, which has structurally avoided the phenomenon of engine’s overload at startup, suitable for wild field operation under poor conditions, and it is convenient to be installed, operate or replaced if needed.
