2021.06.21 Tandem Shale Shaker

Model 1: GNZS593G shale shaker. It is a 3-panel single deck shale shaker. The handling capacity of the 3-panel shale shaker is 528 GPM (120 m/3h). The shaker is using GN high quality composite frame pretension shaker screen for longer lifetime. As the replacement screens are also made by GN itself. It can reduce clients’ operation cost on replacement shaker screens.

Model 2: GNZS594F shale shaker. It is a 4-panel single deck shale shaker, and it is the most popular shaker model for drilling mud recycling system. The handling capacity of the 4-panel shale shaker is 616 GPM (140 m/3h). The shale shaker is using the same size shaker screen with GNZS593G, and most spare parts of the 2 shaker models are interchangeable.

Model 3: GNZS595F shale shaker. It is a 5-panel single deck shale shaker for bigger capacity. It is mainly used in deep drilling rig mud system. The handling capacity of the 5-panel shale shaker is 700 GPM (160 m/3h). The shale shaker is using the same size screens with GNZS593G and GNZS594F

As the model code showing, the replacement screen for the 3 shaker models are all the same, only the shaker deck number varies. And most spare parts of the 3 shaker models are interchangeable. Clients can choose the right model based on their demands on handling capacity.

Explosion proof motor starter for hazardous areas

Enclosure is a vital and major component of motor starters. Per jobsite situation, there are“Hazardous” and “Non-Hazardous” areas. Oil and gas drilling is appointed to Hazardous areas, it means the the possibility of the surrounding atmosphere being an explosive gas or dust mixture. Explosion proof is an mandatory demands for motors and motors starters where are used in the areas.

Like shale shaker, mud cleaner, decanter centrifuge, centrifugal pumps, mud agitators which are driving by electrical motors. They must be explosion proof while they are used in oil and gas drilling mud system. But if they are used in non-oil drilling mud system in safety areas, like water well drilling, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), piling, pipe jacking and other underground trenchless activies, they can be non explosion proof.

IP rates

Many people may think EX standard motor and control panel have better protection than Non-Ex, especially for outdoor application. It is wrong. EX motor and control panel is only to ensure the products will not cause explosion in hazardous areas. It is IP protection rates which determines more the electrical products durability. The IP rating is set out in standard IEC EN 60529 and rates electrical enclosures by the level of ingress protection against solids (1st digit) and against liquids (2nd digit). The higher number for each digit, the better the protection against dust and liquid. GN Solids Control is using IP 55 EX motors in drilling mud processing system. And GN Solids Control electrical control systems are made with IP65.

NEMA codes

Mostly, clients will directly say they need explosion proof zone 1 or zone 2 for their equipment. But sometimes, clients may say they want NEMA 7 enclosure. NEMA standards for National Electrical Manufactures Association system. It is recognized across North and South America including Canada. NEMA 7 means for Hazardous locations. Explosion proof enclosure is a must to meet NEMA 7. While people say they need NEMA 7 enclosure for motor starter. They actually need explosion proof motor starter for zone 1 or zone 2. GN Solids Control Flameproof and positive pressurized enclosure for hazardous areas. EX mark must be marked on explosion proof enclosure.

GNLW223 Series mini side decanter centrifuge is specially designed for high speed, small capacity, small footprint, fine solids separation. It is widely used together with mini size mud cleaner GNZS752 in solids removal unit.

GN Solids Control makes full package compact design solids removal unit for diamond drilling and mining industry. The major separation system of GN solids removal unit is mini size shale shaker and decanter centrifuge. There is a small mixing unit allocated together with the separation equipment. All equipment are controlled by the central control system and allocated on the small mud tank. There are ladders and guardrails around the tank and easy up stairs and down stairs during operation.

The 2-phase Decanter centrifuge and 3-phase disc centrifuge for oil sludge separation

Decanter centrifuge and disc centrifuge are widely used at oil sludge separation and waste water treatment. Especially in oil sludge separation system, decanter centrifuge and disc centrifuge are normally used together for 2-phase and 3-phase separation.

The decanter centrifuge is a kind of decanter discharge sedimentation centrifuge. After the liquid material enters into the decanter centrifuge via feeding pipe, the blades on the screw propeller push the solid phase in the material to the slag discharge port at the small end of the centrifuge bowl and discharge, and the liquid phase overflows through the overflow holes at the large end of the bowl. This process is repeated continuously to achieve the purpose of continuous separation.

2022.04.11 Centrifuge Unit

Decanter centrifuge is widely used at drilling mud treatment solids control system and drilling waste management system. The decanter centrifuge can be used for barite recovery and fine solids separation.

A disc centrifuge is a type of vertical centrifuge. The bowl of the disc centrifuge is installed on the upper end of the vertical shaft, and is driven by a motor to rotate at a high speed through a transmission device. Inside the drum, there is a set of disc-shaped parts that are nested together, it is called discs.

Below are the two major application conditions for disc centrifuges:
1. Liquid-solid separation (ie, the separation of the bottom concentration suspension), called clarification.
2. Liquid-liquid separation (or liquid-liquid-solid) separation (ie separation of emulsion), called separation operation.

2022.03.10-Dewatering-Vibrating-Screen

1. Linear dewatering shale shaker

The linear motion shale shaker is used for dewatering treatment. It is specially designed to separate larger and coarser solid particles. The construction mud enters the shaker screen through the charging funnel to separate large-diameter solids such as large stones. The service life of the screen on this vibrating screen is longer than that of the traditional woven screen.

2. Double-deck mud shale shaker

The liquid phase come from the coarse separation dewateting shale shaker enters the double-layer mud shale shaker GNZS706 again. GNZS706 double-deck shale shaker is a two-stage separation, which enters the bottom layer of the double-layer vibrating screen first. The mesh number of the bottom layer is small, so as to further separate coarse particles. The mesh number of the upper screen is high, and the liquid phase passing through the lower screen enters the upper screen again, and the effect is better.

Automatic Mud Tank Cleaning Unit for Offshore Drilling Platform

GN Solids Control can make automatic mud tank cleaning system for onshore and offshore applications. The automatic mud tank tank cleaning system is used together with high pressure wash gun. The high pressure wash gun is used to wash mud tanks, the automatic mud tank cleaning system is to separate the waste slurry and reuse the water to clean mud tanks again.

2022.04.07 Tank Cleaning Unit

The normal design GN automatic tank cleaning system is mounted on a skid for easy movement. This week, GN Solids Control finished a customized tank cleaning system for offshore platform. Compared with onshore tank cleaning system, the unit for offshore is customized design, it is composed of separate small modular for easy lifting. Below are the major separation modular of the offshore automatic tank cleaning system.

1: Automatic high pressure wash gun modular to flush and clean mud tanks.

2: The suction unit to suck the waste slurry which is generated from tank cleaning.

3: Waste slurry separation modular to separate the liquid and solids inside the waste slurry.

Besides automatic mud tank tank cleaning system for onshore and offshore, GN Solids Control is also capable to make other waste management separation equipment, like waste water treatment unit for oil and non-oil slurry treatment.

Drilling Cuttings Drying Shaker for Offshore Drilling Service Company

GN Solids Control makes some customized high G drying shaker units for an offshore project. The high G drying shaker model is GNZS594F with 4 screen panels. The high G drying shaker are equipped with anti splash cover.

The anti splash drying shaker is installed on a small catch tank. There is a centrifugal pump installed on the tank skid to transfer mud to other tanks.

There are 2 mud agitators are installed on the mud tank to avoid mud settle down.

2022.03.21 High G Shaker

High G drying shaker is a kind of shale shaker which adapts G force to separate liquid and solids phase. GN Solids Control makes various sizes solids control shake shaker with G force up to 7.5G. GN Solids Control makes high G drying shale shaker which is with G force up to 8.0G. The G force of all GN shale shakers are adjustable.

The damping spring is important to shale shaker performance. It is used to reduce the vibration effect to the shaker mechanical parts. The normal material of damping spring is metal frame inside, and outside is covered with vulcanized rubbers.

There are totally 3 high G drying tank units for the same offshore project. It is designed and made per client’s request. GN Solids Control standard color is green RAL6024. And also the color of the whole unit is blue and white, it is specially made per client’s request.

Drilling fluids degasser and mud gas separator for drilling mud processing

Degasser is a basic device in drilling mud solids control equipment. Degasser can quickly migrates bubbles to the surface of drilling fluid and removes them. Using degasser is the most effective way to remove gas from gas influx drilling fluid.

Degassers are divided into two categories: vacuum degasser and atmospheric centrifugal degasser. According to the way of vacuum formation, it can be divided into jet evacuation degasser and vacuum pump evacuation degasser.

2020.03.06 Drilling Vacuum Degasser

As long as the structure is reasonable and the viscosity is normal, the degassing efficiency of the general degasser can reach 80% ~ 95%. The inlet pipeline of the degasser is installed behind the agitator of the second tank (close to the grit chamber). In this way, the large-diameter bubbles of 4 ~ 25mm can be removed by the agitator to facilitate the suction of the degasser. At the same time, the self-locking of the centrifugal sand pump used for the hydrocyclone can be avoided.

No matter what kind of vacuum degasser, its structure has the following three points in common:

1. There is a vacuum pump or jet pump to maintain a moderate vacuum in the degassing tank, so as to suck the gas invasion drilling fluid into the tank for gas-liquid separation and discharge the natural gas to the atmosphere

2. Grooved baffle or conical umbrella plate is generally set in the tank to separate the drilling fluid into thin layers to escape the gas.

3. Equipped with liquid level control device to adjust the flow of drilling fluid into the degassing chamber, so that the degassing chamber will neither overflow nor empty.

The improvement of vacuum degasser mainly focuses on the above aspects. Different structures form different types of products.

Mud gas separator is another device to remove the gas from drilling fluids. It is used after chokemanifolds and before shale shaker. It is a necessary safety device.

Dual tandem Shale shaker for work over rig mud system

Dual tandem shale is completed with 2 shale shakers. For a dual tandem shale shaker, There are 2 shakers fixed on a skid, and the feeding box of the 2 shakers are connected by distribution box or distribution pipelines. There are valves on the distribution pipelines to control the mud flow to either one or both shakers.

Dual tandem shale shaker is widely used at workover drilling rig mud system. Compared with single shale shaker, the dual tantem shale shaker is easy for shipment and layout on the mud system. It is used to remove the drilling cuttings from drilling mud and get qualified drilling mud to support the drilling actives.

2021.06.21 Tandem Shale Shaker

Drilling cuttings are the main solid phase polluting drilling fluid. It greatly affects the performance of drilling fluid and must be stabilized. Therefore, it is very importance to do solids control treatment during drilling process. Drilling fluids solid control is the process to control and remove drilling cuttings. The cost of drilling fluid is directly related to solid phase control and its effect.

Shale, sandstone (sand), limestone, dolomite salt and salt rock often encountered in drilling are low-density solids. Their drillability varies greatly, which plays an important role in the determination of drilling fluid system and the selection of solid control system.

After the solids control shale shaker, the desander and / or desilter mud cleaner will be used. It is to further separate finer drilling cuttings.

There are 4 steps solids control equipment: shale shaker, desander, desilter, and decanter centrifuge. Clients can choose the right model solids control equipment depends on the separate point of the equipment and the separation demands of the rig site.

Decanter centrifuge is the most expensive separation equipment on the solids control equipment. It is used to remove the ultra fine solids in the drilling mud.

Vertical cuttings drying system

1) Vertical cuttings dryer is the major equipment to treat OBM (oil base mud) cuttings: It is also called as vortex centrifuge. Vertical cuttings dryer can reduce oil on cutting to 3% ~ 5%.

2) High G drying shale shaker is the major separation equipment to treat water base mud (WBM) cuttings.

3) High speed Decanter centrifuge is used after Vertical cuttings dryer to reduce the mud weight. 14 inch centrifuge is the most popular size used at oil field. Clients can select fixed speed control centrifuge for cost effective, and choose another set of pulley and belt for changing to another fixed speed. GN Solids Control is also capable to make variable frequency drive control (VFD) decanter centrifuge and full hydraulic drive (FHD) decanter centrifuge.

4) Screw conveyor is the most popular transfer device to feed for vertical cuttings dryer and high G drying shale shaker, and transfer the solids discharged from the separation device. GN Solids Control offers various diameter sizes and transfer length screw conveyors.
