The normal design GN automatic tank cleaning system is mounted on a skid for easy movement. This week, GN Solids Control finished a customized tank cleaning system for offshore platform. Compared with onshore tank cleaning system, the unit for offshore is customized design, it is composed of separate small modular for easy lifting. Below are the major separation modular of the offshore automatic tank cleaning system.

1: Automatic high pressure wash gun modular to flush and clean mud tanks.

2: The suction unit to suck the waste slurry which is generated from tank cleaning.

3: Waste slurry separation modular to separate the liquid and solids inside the waste slurry.

4: The storage and transfer modular.

5: the solids skips to collect drill cuttings and transfer to other places. The solids skips are equipped with covers. There are rubber sealing on the covers. During shipment, the solids skips can be locked and sealed to avoid leakage. It is widely used for solids waste and hazardous material transfer.

Besides automatic mud tank tank cleaning system for onshore and offshore, GN Solids Control is also capable to make other waste management separation equipment, like waste water treatment unit for oil and non-oil slurry treatment.

GN Solids Control can also make drilling cuttings treatment system to make water base mud and oil base mud and cuttings. After separation, some clients may want to recover as more drilling mud as possible for reuse. Or they want to separate the liquid and solids and to reduce the total waste. Drilling Cuttings Drying Shaker for Offshore Drilling Service Company

GN Solids Control makes some customized high G drying shaker units for an offshore project. The high G drying shaker model is GNZS594F with 4 screen panels. The high G drying shaker are equipped with anti splash cover.

The anti splash drying shaker is installed on a small catch tank. There is a centrifugal pump installed on the tank skid to transfer mud to other tanks.

There are 2 mud agitators are installed on the mud tank to avoid mud settle down.

2022.03.21 High G Shaker

High G drying shaker is a kind of shale shaker which adapts G force to separate liquid and solids phase. GN Solids Control makes various sizes solids control shake shaker with G force up to 7.5G. GN Solids Control makes high G drying shale shaker which is with G force up to 8.0G. The G force of all GN shale shakers are adjustable.

The damping spring is important to shale shaker performance. It is used to reduce the vibration effect to the shaker mechanical parts. The normal material of damping spring is metal frame inside, and outside is covered with vulcanized rubbers.

There are totally 3 high G drying tank units for the same offshore project. It is designed and made per client’s request. GN Solids Control standard color is green RAL6024. And also the color of the whole unit is blue and white, it is specially made per client’s request.

GN Solids Control offers high quality composite frame pretension shaker screens for all GN shakers. Further more, GN Solids Control can make other sizes replacement screen for other brand shale shakers.

Shale shaker can be used together with various sizes and quantity of hydra cyclone assembly to work as mud cleaners.

Drilling fluids degasser and mud gas separator for drilling mud processing

Degasser is a basic device in drilling mud solids control equipment. Degasser can quickly migrates bubbles to the surface of drilling fluid and removes them. Using degasser is the most effective way to remove gas from gas influx drilling fluid.

Degassers are divided into two categories: vacuum degasser and atmospheric centrifugal degasser. According to the way of vacuum formation, it can be divided into jet evacuation degasser and vacuum pump evacuation degasser.

2020.03.06 Drilling Vacuum Degasser

As long as the structure is reasonable and the viscosity is normal, the degassing efficiency of the general degasser can reach 80% ~ 95%. The inlet pipeline of the degasser is installed behind the agitator of the second tank (close to the grit chamber). In this way, the large-diameter bubbles of 4 ~ 25mm can be removed by the agitator to facilitate the suction of the degasser. At the same time, the self-locking of the centrifugal sand pump used for the hydrocyclone can be avoided.

No matter what kind of vacuum degasser, its structure has the following three points in common:

1. There is a vacuum pump or jet pump to maintain a moderate vacuum in the degassing tank, so as to suck the gas invasion drilling fluid into the tank for gas-liquid separation and discharge the natural gas to the atmosphere

2. Grooved baffle or conical umbrella plate is generally set in the tank to separate the drilling fluid into thin layers to escape the gas.

3. Equipped with liquid level control device to adjust the flow of drilling fluid into the degassing chamber, so that the degassing chamber will neither overflow nor empty.

The improvement of vacuum degasser mainly focuses on the above aspects. Different structures form different types of products.

0301 mud gas separator

Mud gas separator is another device to remove the gas from drilling fluids. It is used after chokemanifolds and before shale shaker. It is a necessary safety device.

Dual tandem Shale shaker for work over rig mud system

Dual tandem shale is completed with 2 shale shakers. For a dual tandem shale shaker, There are 2 shakers fixed on a skid, and the feeding box of the 2 shakers are connected by distribution box or distribution pipelines. There are valves on the distribution pipelines to control the mud flow to either one or both shakers.

Dual tandem shale shaker is widely used at workover drilling rig mud system. Compared with single shale shaker, the dual tantem shale shaker is easy for shipment and layout on the mud system. It is used to remove the drilling cuttings from drilling mud and get qualified drilling mud to support the drilling actives.

2021.06.21 Tandem Shale Shaker

Drilling cuttings are the main solid phase polluting drilling fluid. It greatly affects the performance of drilling fluid and must be stabilized. Therefore, it is very importance to do solids control treatment during drilling process. Drilling fluids solid control is the process to control and remove drilling cuttings. The cost of drilling fluid is directly related to solid phase control and its effect.

Shale, sandstone (sand), limestone, dolomite salt and salt rock often encountered in drilling are low-density solids. Their drillability varies greatly, which plays an important role in the determination of drilling fluid system and the selection of solid control system.

After the solids control shale shaker, the desander and / or desilter mud cleaner will be used. It is to further separate finer drilling cuttings.

There are 4 steps solids control equipment: shale shaker, desander, desilter, and decanter centrifuge. Clients can choose the right model solids control equipment depends on the separate point of the equipment and the separation demands of the rig site.

Decanter centrifuge is the most expensive separation equipment on the solids control equipment. It is used to remove the ultra fine solids in the drilling mud.

Mud mixing hopper and mixing pump are used as mixing unit to prepare qualified drilling mud.

Drilling mud and drill cuttings separation dryer and decanter centrifuge

Vertical cuttings drying system

1) Vertical cuttings dryer is the major equipment to treat OBM (oil base mud) cuttings: It is also called as vortex centrifuge. Vertical cuttings dryer can reduce oil on cutting to 3% ~ 5%.

2) High G drying shale shaker is the major separation equipment to treat water base mud (WBM) cuttings.

3) High speed Decanter centrifuge is used after Vertical cuttings dryer to reduce the mud weight. 14 inch centrifuge is the most popular size used at oil field. Clients can select fixed speed control centrifuge for cost effective, and choose another set of pulley and belt for changing to another fixed speed. GN Solids Control is also capable to make variable frequency drive control (VFD) decanter centrifuge and full hydraulic drive (FHD) decanter centrifuge.

4) Screw conveyor is the most popular transfer device to feed for vertical cuttings dryer and high G drying shale shaker, and transfer the solids discharged from the separation device. GN Solids Control offers various diameter sizes and transfer length screw conveyors.

GN Solids Control can also offer different design full package OBM treatment unit to suit for various clients’ request. For OBM cuttings treatment, most clients will separate the drill cuttings, and recover the usable drilling mud from the cuttings. And resell the drilling mud. If only for one short time project, sometimes it is not economic to invest much for the 3-phase separation to separate oil and sell oil.

Drilling Fluids Shale Shaker and Mud tank for Offshore Drilling Company

GN Solids Control is capacity to make solids control shale shaker and mud cleaner for onshore and offer drilling rigs. Recently, GN Solids Control finished a drilling fluids mud tank system for an offshore drilling company.

There are drilling fluids shale shaker and centrifugal pumps equipped in the offshore rig mud system. The shale shakers are used to treat the drilling fluids. 2022.02.17 Offshore Mud Shaker

According to the conditions generating vibration, the shaker shakers can be divided into four types:

1. Atmospheric shale shaker: the upper side and lower side of the shale shaker screens are atmospheric pressure. It is the most popular type shale shaker.

GN Solids Control makes single deck and double deck shale shaker. According to the screen quantity of single deck, GN Solids Control makes 2-panel mini. Shale shaker, 2-panel shale shaker, 4-panel shale shaker and 5-panel shale shaker.

2. Positive pressure shale shaker: the environment above the screen is greater than atmospheric pressure, and the environment below shaker screen is atmospheric pressure. It is not popular. Nearly not used for drilling mud treatment.ViST-Vacuum-Shaker-Screen

3. Negative pressure shale shaker: the upper side of the shaker screen is atmospheric pressure environment, and the bottom side of shaker screen is less than atmospheric pressure environment. It is also called as vacuum shaker screen. GN Solids Control makes screen vacuum unit to suit for his own brand shaker models. The vacuum unit is separated with shale shaker.

GN Solids Control vacuum screen unit is very compact design. It is suitable for both offshore rig drilling mud system and offshore drilling mud system. A vacuum unit can be connected to 1 shale shaker, 2 shale shakers, or maximum 3 shale shakers.

While the screen vacuum unit is working together with solids control shale shaker, it can replace the extra high G drying shale shaker at drilling waste management system.

Tank cleaning system and centrifuge separation unit

Many clients have much interest on tank cleaning system. Clients want to know more actual process in the field for both water base slurry and and non-oil base mud on rig tanks.

Regarding the tank cleaning system, it is a basic and simple separation unit. GNTC-30C Automatic Tank Cleaning System is a closed loop system to continue clean the mud tanks, oil tanks, chemical tanks or slurry tanks. Clients can send materials to GN Solids Control factory for test. The major separation device is Inclined Plate Clarifiers (IPC).

GN Inclined Plate Clarifiers (IPC) is a high performance, Lamella plate design for removal of settleable solids in a variety of waste slurry. The lamella plate is made from stainless steel. It can be used to separate oil sludge or non-oil sludge.

The GNTC-30C Tank Cleaning system can supply fresh water to the high pressure tank cleaning machine which is mounted inside the tank. And the integrated pumps bring the dirty wash water back to the system for cleaning works and then return the clean water back to the tank cleaning machine for reuse.

It applies gravity separation. The liquid is not very clean.The final recovered liquid quality various per the raw material and the chemicals. Clients can choose suitable chemicals to help for the separation and help to improve the separation efficiency and quality.

It is designed for tank cleaning companies, who do not have high request on the liquid quality. They can use the recovered liquid to clean mud tanks again.

The chemical dosing unit and decanter centrifuge can be used together for dewatering treatment.

Some weeks ago, a drilling mud cleaner arrived GN Solids America in Houston. It will be dispatched to the local client with other equipment soon for drilling mud processing project.

Drilling mud cleaner is a very popular separation equipment to process drilling mud and waste slurries. The mud cleaner dispatched to GN Solids America is a 3-in-1 model. It is composed of a shale shaker, desander separator and desilter separator. Before enter into the mud cleaner, the drilling mud will be pre-treated by shale shaker to remove the big solids and to reduce the solids content.

The desander and desiler assembly is a separate unit which is located on the top of a shale shaker. Clients can remove the cyclone unit and use the mud cleaner as a separate shale shaker.

The screens are used for mud cleaner is normally very fine screens with small opening. As the hydro cyclones used for the mud cleaner is 10 inch for desander and 4 inch for desilter. The desilter separator cut point is 27 microns. So the shaker screen on the underflow shale shaker should be smaller than 27 microns. The fine screens are used to further recover drilling mud.

Except for the mud cleaner, decanter centrifuge package is hot sale separation equipment from GN Solids Control. GN Solids Control finished a package of GNMS-1500D Pipe Jacking Slurry Separation Desander Plant for an Asia Client. GNMS-1500D is a 1500GPM capacity desanding plant. GN Solids Control D series desanding plants are mainly used for below applications:

1. GN Solids Control D series desanding plant can be used for trenchless and HDD Projects.

2022.01.18 GNMS-1500D Desander Plant 2

There is a Desander cyclone, a double deck shale shaker and a centrifugal pump are included in GNMS-1500D Pipe Jacking Slurry Separation Desander Plant.

The desanding plant includes 2 no. of 14 inch desander cyclone. The cyclone desander is made according to the separation principle of the solid in the fluid rotating in the desander, which integrates swirling flow and filtration. Desanding hydrocyclones are widely used in water treatment and drilling fluid solid control systems in various petroleum and non petroleum fields. Realize turbidity removal and solid-liquid separation.

2022.01.18 GNMS-1500D Desander Plant

Double deck shale shaker is used under the desander cyclone. The bottom deck is used as solids separation shale shaker. The upper deck shale shaker is used after desander cyclone. The dirty mud will be pumped to the bottom shale shaker for coarse separation, and sand will be discharged. The drilling mud will fall down to the sand trap under the shale shaker. And the the drilling mud in the sand trap will be pumped to the desander cyclones for further separation. As desander cyclone is not a 100% separation device, the upper deck shale shaker is used after desander cyclone for further separation.

Centrifugal pumps are used as feeding pump for desander cyclones, and used as transfer pump.

GN Solids and Liquid Separation Equipment for Canada Dredging Slurry Dewatering

After over 2-month hard working, last week, 1 package of solids and liquid separation equipment are ready for shipment. The separation equipment are designed together with an Canadian design company for a Municipal Engineering Project for the dredging slurry dewatering treatment.

Below are the major separation equipment included in the dredging slurry separation project:

2022.01.12 Desander Desilter

1. There are 2 sets of double deck shale shaker equipped for the 1st stage separation. The shale shaker model is GNZS706. The upper deck of the shale shaker is equipped with bigger opening steel frame screens to remove the big materials in the waste water, such as plastic, rubbers, rocks, shoes, etc…The botton deck of the shale shaker use relative fine screens to remove smaller solids above a certain size.

2. After the 2 shale shakers, there is a desander mud cleaner, the model is GNZS703F-2S. There are 2 no. 10 inch desander cone above a linear motion shaler shaker GNZS703F. The shale shaker use fine screens. The desander mud cleaner with 10 inch desander cone can be used to remove the particles above 50 microns.

3. After desander, it is a desilter mud cleaner. The desilter model is GNZS703F-12N. There are 12 qty of desilter cone above a linear motion shale shaker GNZS703F. The screens used for desilter mud cleaner is finer than desander mud cleaner. The desilter mud cleaner with 4 inch desilter cone can remove particles above 27 microns.

2021.01.12 Decanter Centrifuge

4. The major precision separation equipment in the system is a 30 inch big bowl decanter centrifuge. The model is GNLW764A-VFD. It is the largest bowl decanter centrifuge made by GN Solids Control. The centrifuge bowl is up to 30 inch. And the bowl length is up to 3328mm. It is used to remove the ultra fine solids in the slurry and for dewatering treatment.

5. There are 3 qty liquid solids separation mud tank.

Screw conveyors and centrifugal pumps are used in the system for solids and liquid transfer.
