Recently, GN Solids Control received inquire from a client to ask for 3-phase decanter centrifuge, Centrifuge feeding pump, screw pump GNG20-055B, Sludge vacuum pump and accessories for the mentioned equipment:

The client is interested in 18 inch decanter centrifuge, GN Solids Control recommend the GNSX-450 three phase decanter centrifuge. Feeding pump is GNG20-055B screw pump. As the GNSX-450 three phase decanter centrifuge is with VFD control panel, 15m cables for main drive motor, back drive motor, oil pump and feed pump motor are recommended. Regarding hoses, the client asked for 10 m hose for screw pump feeding for connect to the centrifuge.

GN Solids Control offered Telescopic skid an optional item. Telescopic skid is suggested to hold the decanter centrifuge, VFD control panel, and feeding screw pump. Clients can also tell GN Solids Control the cable length and hose length they need. The Telescopic skid can be fell down during shipment. And it can be lift up during centrifuge operation to lift the liquid out let port, and in this case, the recovered liquid from centrifuge can flow back to mud system or mud tank by gravity. Sludge vacuum pump model is GNSP-20B. It is a portable type vacuum pump with its accessories such as cables and all needed hoses (from the pit to the pump, hose length of suction is 20 Meters and from the pump to the transition tank, hose length of discharge is 50 Meters) per jobsite request.

Furthermore, a transition tank with its agitators all accessories are included in the proposal for full function.
The system will use a sludge vacuum pump (with all its accessories) to suck oil sludge from the pit to transition tank. The Mixture will be mixed with the agitator in the transition tank. A centrifuge feeding pump, screw-pump is used to suck the mixture from the transition tank to the centrifuge. The centrifuge will be fixed on the telescopic skid.

Working Procedure of GN diesel driven shearing hopper system is below:
A centrifugal pump is driven by Ex-proof diesel engine as feeding pump, it is used to convey drilling fluid to be mixed in mixing tank. And drilling fluid is sucked from tank to shearing hopper by diesel engine. Chemicals to be added to drilling fluids are fed from top of hopper, and well mixed fluid falls into tank, and to be re-used via pipelines connected per client’s jobsite design.

Clients can use the T-pipe at mixing pump inlet and jet hopper outlet for proportioning the fluids in tanks or from outside per jobsite requests.

100hp is the most popular size of diesel engine driven shearing hopper system. Below are the features of the diesel engine driven shearing hopper system:
1) The shearing hopper and piping material can be 316/316L stainless steel to suit for chemicals.
2) Diesel Engineer power is 100hp explosion proof standard for zone 1 applications.

Self-suction Vacuum degasser for drilling mud system

GNLCQ300A centrifugal degasser is a new type degasser. The centrifugal degasser is designed to treat gas cut drilling mud in solids control system. Normally the degasser is used after shale shaker. This week, a client is going to issue orders to buy GN Vacuum Degasser. They are interested in the Model GNZCQ270B for processing capacity 1200GPM. They prefer GN vacuum degasser. As GN Vacuum Degasser is a self-contained unit. The unit is no need feeding pump.

But they have question especially for the self-feeding pump data & NPSH of the pump. Because the suction line the client will be use will be a 5 m horizontal pipe with 2 ea elbow 90 degree from the suction point to vacuum degasser equipment.
The pump in vacuum degasser is vacuum type pump with Negative pressure.  NPSH is net positive suction head. NPSH is not applicable for vacuum pump.

GN Solids Control confirms the client that, GNZCQ270B can meet the client’s situation: suction line will be 5m horizontal pipe with 2 elbow 90 degree from the suction point to vacuum degasser equipment. But lifting distance (from liquid surface to pump) should be less than 2.5m.

Drilling mud shale shaker sent to Russia for oil rig mud system

Shale shaker is first stage solids control equipment in drilling mud purification and recycling system. Shale shaker separator is also known as the major solids control equipment in drilling mud system. Drilling mud agitator for solids control system

Mud agitator is designed to agitating the drilling fluids in mud tanks. Mud agitator is composed of motor, gearbox reducer, shaft and impeller. It is a high efficiency unit for mud mixing in solids control mud system. GN Solids Control offers all sizes of drilling mud agitators for different sizes and functional mud tanks, like shale shaker tank (slope tank), suction tank, mixing tank, storage tank, pill tank, water tank, trip tank, marine tank, etc…Both horizontal and vertical type drilling mud agitator are available.

According to the design type of gearbox reduce, there are 2 major types of mud agitator:
1) Worm and gearbox reducer mud agitator. This type agitator is with compact design and smaller footprint. Its cost is lower but the efficiency is less.
2) Helical bevel gearbox reducer mud agitator. It is heavy duty type. This type agitator is with a bigger footprint for the same horse power motor but with much higher stir efficiency than worm gearbox type. Its cost is higher.

In order to choose the right model of mud agitator of the mud tanks, below information is requested before ordering agitators:
1) The dimension of the mud tank (L×W×H).
2) The weight of the drilling mud
3) Voltage of the the power supply for driven motors
4) Impeller type: canted blade type or flat blade type. Mostly it is canted blade impellers. The canted blade impeller is better stir performance compared with flat blade impeller.
5) Number of mud agitators requested for the sizing mud tank.
6) Required TOR. TOR means the turn over rate.

The TOR is the number of seconds required for the impeller to pump the full volume within the sizing area. Remember that a lower TOR indicates more agitation because the tank turns over in fewer seconds. TOR should be in the range of 35 to 90 seconds for all “sizing areas”. Although, for the suction tank, it should have a TOR closer to 90 (less agitation) to prevent aeration.
